Instruction Image Compress with Squeezeimg for Opencart

Download and install

  1. Download the plugin archive from Shop Pinta store and save it on your computer.

  2. In the admin panel of your website, select  Extensions (1) > Installer (2).

  3. In the Upload your extensions block, click the Upload button (3).

4.     In the opened window, select the plugin archive (1) and click Open button (2).

5. Clear the cache. Go to the subcategory Modifications (1), select Clear (2) and Refresh (3) buttons.

6. Go to the subcategory Extensions (1) in the list of Modules (2). 

7. Find the Convert and compress images with Squeezeimg plugin and click the Install button.

8. To configure the plugin, click the button Edit.

Plugin page

Plugin page contains from fields:

  1. Enabled status (1) - to enable/disable the plugin select On/Off.

  2. Convert images to webp and jp2 formats (2) - to enable/disable conversion to webp and jp2, select On/Off.

  3. Quality of compress (3) - to select the image compression rate. 

  4. gzip enabled (4) - to enable/disable compression of your website select On/Off.

  5. Secret Token (5) - to enter the API key of the Squeezeimg service.

For filling the Secret Token field, you need to generate an API key.

For this:

  • Click on the Generate token button (1).

  • At the Squeezeimg website, you need log in (2) or create a new account (3).

  • In your Squeezeimg account (My account) go to the Api tab (1) and click on the GENERATION NEW KEY button to generate an API key.

  • On the plugin page, paste the received API key into the Secret Token field.

  1. Count send images in request (6) - to select the number of images that sent in one request.

  2. Lazy load (7) - select On, if you want to increase the loading speed of the website using lazy-load images.

  3. Sitemap (8) - contains a link to an XML file with information for search engines.

The Images block includes blocks for converting images that have been added to your website.

Use the necessary block depending on the format in which you want to receive the optimized images:

  1. Block Convert images in jpg if you want to get JPG images after optimization.

  2. Block Convert images in webp, if you want to get webP images after optimization.

  3. Block Convert images in jp2 if you want to get jp2 images after optimization.

Each image for converting block consists of:

  1. The Compress & convert button (1) - to compress/convert images of the corresponding format.

  2. The Return original button (2) - to return images to their original state.

  3. The images origin string (3) shows the number of images on your website.

  4. The Converted jpg/webp/jp2 images string (4) shows the number of processed images of the corresponding format.

Now your website images are optimized and much smaller.
